§ The Secretary of State for the Home Department and Lord Privy Seal (Mr. R. A. Butler)I have a short statement to make on business.
Conversations have taken place through the usual channels and it is now considered that it would be more convenient for the debate on Foreign Affairs to take place on Thursday of this week rather than on Wednesday.
In consequence of this change, the business on Wednesday will be the completion of the Committee stage of the House Purchase and Housing Bill.
§ Mr. GaitskellWe were glad to agree to this proposition so as to make it possible for Ministers to spend the whole time on Wednesday in trying to get a final settlement of the Cyprus problem. We hope that, in consequence, it will be possible for both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary to take part in the debate on Thursday.
§ Mr. ButlerI am obliged to the right hon. Gentleman for the manner in which Her Majesty's Opposition accepted this suggestion, which I think will fit in with the national interest.
