HC Deb 17 February 1959 vol 600 c186
35. Mr. Holt

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a further statement concerning new arrangements relating to the importation of needlecord and corduroy garments from Eire made out of foreign cloth and imported to the United Kingdom free of duty.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

I am glad to be able to tell the House that the discussions with the Irish authorities have now been satisfactorily concluded. Arrangements to limit exports to this country of these and other garments made from woven cotton materials imported from Japan and Soviet bloc countries will come into force on 1st March.
