§ 54. Sir C. Taylorasked the Minister of Health whether he will make a statement about the provision of accommodation for the elderly and chronic sick in Eastbourne.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithThe need for additional accommodation for the chronic sick in Eastbourne is recognised, and steps are being taken to acquire premises for this purpose.
§ Sir C. TaylorCan my right hon. and learned Friend say how long it will be before this operation is completed; and when the premises will be available for full occupation?
§ Mr. Walker-SmithI do not think that it should be very long. In fact, I have prepared a draft compulsory purchase order as being the best way to ensure the use of these premises for hospital purposes. My hon. Friend will be glad, I know, to hear that the closing date for objections was 14th February. If the order is confirmed, there should be very little delay in bringing the premises into use.
