HC Deb 12 February 1959 vol 599 c1325
4. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what conclusions have been reached by the Select Committees of the Bermuda Legislature considering the questions of franchise and racial discrimination in hotels and restaurants.

The Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Julian Amery)

Neither Committee has yet reported.

Mr. Allaun

Does not the Minister agree that the ending of race prejudice and of the property qualification in the franchise would be the finest way of celebrating the 350th anniversary of the Bermuda Legislature?

Mr. Amery

I think that is a somewhat different question from the one put to me.
