§ 42. Mr. Malcolm MacPhersonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered the Report of the Committee on African Adult Education in Nyasaland, 1958; to what extent the carrying out of its recommendations 1341 is a matter for the territorial government; and what decisions have been reached by the territorial government.
§ Mr. J. AmeryA copy of the Report has been obtained and is now being studied. I have not yet received the Governor's comments, in which I will ask him to include the recommendations as to the extent to which it is proper and necessary for the Government to cooperate in implementing the recommendations of the Report.
§ Mr. MacPhersonDoes this not show unwarranted delay? Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the Report has been available in this country for some considerable time? We ought to have been given a better Answer than that.
§ Mr. AmeryAs the matter is an important one, I should not like to express a view until it has been fully considered.
