asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the reorganisation proposed in the advisory committees for technical education in Scotland.

I have sent the hon. Member a copy of the proposals, which were generally welcomed at a recent meeting with industrial and educational bodies. My right hon. Friend will make a statement as soon as the arrangements have been fully worked out.

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that these proposals, as far as I understand, were very similar to proposals published by the Labour Party last summer? Is he aware that we congratulate him on being converted to such sensible proposals?
