§ 34. Mr. McLarenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will arrange for entries in electoral registers relating to Service voters to be reviewed or re-registered annually, with a view to the elimination of the names of persons no longer possessing a Service qualification.
§ Mr. VosperArrangements already exist for the removal of the names of those who have ceased to have a Service qualification. An alteration of these arrangements on the lines suggested by my hon. Friend would require legislation and my right hon. Friend is not at present convinced that there is a case for He will be glad to examine any evidence sent to him.
§ Mr. ChetwyndIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that at the last election many people who were shown as Service voters had been out of the Service for probably ten years or more?
§ Mr. VosperIf the right hon. Gentleman can send me details of specific cases, I will examine them to see where the existing machinery has failed.
