HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 cc1421-2
6. Mr. McKay

asked the Postmaster-General the salary paid to sub-postmasters where other business is carried on within the premises and in the same room; and to what extent a commission, in addition to the salary, is payable on the amount of pensions, family allowances and so forth that are paid at the post office.

Miss Pike

The majority of sub-post offices are combined with other business. Subject to minimum payments, sub-postmasters are paid according to the amount of work done. The same basis is used whether the post office is run in conjunction with another business or not. There is no additional commission.
