HC Deb 27 April 1959 vol 604 c873
4. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Supply if he will make a statement indicating with what success tenders have been received for 650,000 pairs of War Department surplus boots; and from which countries offers have been received.

Mr. W. J. Taylor

The hon. Gentleman will be pleased to hear that the issue was heavily over-subscribed and acceptances in respect of 98 per cent. of the total quantity have already been issued. All tenders were in accordance with the conditions of the offer which preclude resale on the home market. Countries overseas from which direct offers were received were the United States of America, Germany, France, Sweden, Holland, Rhodesia-Nyasaland and Kenya.
