§ 31. Mr. Stracheyasked the Secretary of State for War when he expects to be in a position to announce a decision on the future of Eaton Hall.
§ Mr. H. FraserAs I explained in answer to Questions on 8th April, we are dealing with this as urgently as possible; but it is a complex matter and I cannot say when it will be possible to make an announcement.
§ Mr. StracheyWill the Under-Secertary of State agree that the House has been very patient? Eaton Hall has been empty now for about a year. I agree about the difficulty of a decision, but the Under-Secretary ought to give us at any rate 383 some prospect that a decision will be arrived at fairly soon, because there is a good deal of legitimate public concern about this.
§ Mr. FraserWe will come to a decision as soon as we can, but as I explained on 8th April, we do not want to make the wrong decision.
