Lords Amendment: In page 8, line 12, leave out subsections (11) and (12).

Mr. J. N. Browne

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.

It may be convenient to discuss with this Amendment the Amendment to insert the new Clause A.

The Amendment corrects a weakness in subsections (11) and (12) and is in substitution of those subsections. In subsections (11) and (12) the building authorities have power to permit the occupation of the road during construction and demolition work performed under warrant. Power is extended to include permission to occupy the road during the carrying out of works for which no warrant is required, such works as the repair or maintenance of a building.
