HC Deb 13 April 1959 vol 603 cc627-8
18. Mr. Palmer

asked the Paymaster-General what action the Government propose to take on the Report of the Weir Committee on co-operation between the electricity and gas industries.

Mr. Maudling

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which was given to my hon. Friend the Member for Horn-church (Mr. Lagden) on 24th March.

Mr. Palmer

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Report of the Weir Committee has given tremendous satisfaction to both the electricity industry and the gas industry and that it is regarded as a great vindication of the existing policies of both industries?

Mr. Maudling

I think it has been a most useful Report.
