HC Deb 08 April 1959 vol 603 c196
46. Mr. Ernest Davies

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he has now received a report from the London Traffic Committee on the Victoria line tube; and what action he proposes to take on it.

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation (Mr. Harold Watkinson)

I would refer the hon. Member to the Answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for St. Marylebone (Sir W. Wakefield) on 18th March.

Mr. Davies

Has the right hon. Gentleman impressed upon the committee the urgency of this matter? Does he appreciate that the longer the delay in reaching the decision whether or not to construct this line the greater will be the cost? Will a report be presented to this House, and if so, in what form?

Mr. Watkinson

I quite agree that it would be wise to come to an early decision and the committee is well aware of that. As to the form in which the report will be presented to this House, no doubt the hon. Gentleman will get a Question down and see that I answer it.
