§ Mr. AtkinsCan my hon. Friend tell me the cost of maintaining a fully modernised aircraft carrier and what would be the cost of maintaining the not quite so modern but still very useful carriers which are at present in reserve?
§ Mr. Orr-EwingThe cost of maintaining a modern carrier is £3 million a year. In addition, the number needed to man her would be 2,000 men. I am afraid that, without notice, I cannot give the cost of maintaining slightly less modern carriers, but perhaps my hon. Friend will put a Question on the Notice Paper on that point.
