HC Deb 25 November 1958 vol 596 cc196-7
10. Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps have been taken to find a successor or successors to the dentist now relinquishing his appointment in the Invernessshire Outer Isles.

Mr. Maclay

I have authorised the Executive Council to try to secure, by guaranteeing an increased minimum net income, the services of a dentist who will devote the whole of his time to the provision of general dental services in these areas. In addition, the local authority is proposing to appoint a full-time school dental officer for the treatment of the children.

Mr. MacMillan

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that we are extremely grateful to him for all the efforts he has made to get a dentist for us? We were hoping that we would get more than one.
