HC Deb 19 November 1958 vol 595 c1130
22. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how the United Kingdom delegate voted in the General Assembly of the United Nations on 30th October on the Resolution deciding not to accept the suggestions contained in the Good Offices Committee on South-West Africa, which envisaged partition and annexation of any part of the territory as a basis for the solution of the question of South-West Africa.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

The United Kingdom Delegate voted in favour of the Resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 30th October, on the Report of the Good Offices Committee on South-West Africa.

Mr. Rankin

Since this matter will arise again, will the right hon. and learned Gentleman assure us that before it is reconsidered full inquiry will be made into the wishes of the native population in South-West Africa?

Mr. Lloyd

The hon. Member's Question related to the past. As for the future, I will certainly consider the point he has made.
