HC Deb 18 November 1958 vol 595 c1012
49. Mr. Lewis

asked the Prime Minister when he expects to be in the position of accepting the invitation of the Soviet Government to visit the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The Prime Minister

I would welcome the opportunity of such a visit at an appropriate time.

Mr. Lewis

In view of the fact that this invitation has been outstanding for some months now—almost years—can the Prime Minister say what in his opinion would be the appropriate time? Does not he feel that it is time that the Heads of States got together?

The Prime Minister

I am sure that the hon. Gentleman would not wish me to speculate on my timetable for next year.
