§ 9. Mr. Pageasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will publish a list of areas in which the Standing Vehicles (Exemption) Regulations, 1956, providing for the parking of vehicles, in certain circumstances, without lights, has been adopted.
§ Mr. NugentOutside the Metropolitan Police District and the City of London the parking of vehicles on streets unlit is subject to the consent of the Chief 362 Officer of Police. I have no information about the number of streets in respect of which such consent has been given.
§ Mr. PageWould not it be a help to the public to know whereabouts in the country vehicles could be parked without lights? If there is not a record of these, how is anyone to know where the Regulations apply?
§ Mr. NugentWherever such a permission has been given—and it is given subject to the approval of the Chief Inspector of Police—there is always a special traffic sign indicating that the Regulations apply there.
