HC Deb 06 November 1958 vol 594 c1082
6. Mr. M. Stewart

asked the Minister of Education how many posts for teachers of science and mathematics were unfilled at the latest date for which information is available; and how many such posts were filled by teachers not fully qualified for the work.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

In March, 1957, the heads of secondary schools reported that they had about 500 vacancies for graduates and that about 400 posts were not satisfactorily filled.

Mr. Stewart

Would the right hon. Gentleman ensure that this information, which requires the filling up of forms by head teachers, is published in future in the Annual Report of his Ministry?

Mr. Lloyd

I will certainly examine that point.
