§ 38. Mr. Blenkinsopasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when a start is to be made with the building of a new general hospital in Barbados, in view of the overcrowded and dilapidated conditions in the existing buildings.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe planning of the new general hospital is now largely completed. I understand that the Barbados Government intend to begin construction as soon as possible.
§ Mr. BlenkinsopWhile welcoming that statement, may I ask the hon. Gentleman to do all he can to speed up the actual beginning of construction because of the appalling situation of beds being shared by two or three patients, and the almost impossible conditions for those who work in the hospitals?
§ Mr. ProfumoI appreciate the hon. Gentleman's observations. When the matter is addressed to my right hon. Friend he will examine it very urgently.
