HC Deb 04 November 1958 vol 594 c773
52. Mr. Mason

asked the Prime Minister if he will make a statement on the progress made between Her Majesty's Government and Euratom to secure a technical collaboration agreement.

The Prime Minister

I have nothing to add at present to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Bolsover (Mr. Neal) on 23rd October.

Mr. Mason

Have not the Government been rather lackadaisical about this matter? Are they not aware of the growing influence of America inside Euratom; that the American Congress has voted 110 million dollars to Euratom projects and is providing fuel credits for the next ten years? Is not the right hon. Gentleman concerned about getting markets in Euratom?

The Prime Minister

Yes, but if the hon. Gentleman will refer to the Answer which I mentioned, he will see that I stated that Discussions between Her Majesty's Government and the Euratom Commission have made good progress, and I hope an agreement will he reached for signature before the end of the year."—[OFFICIAL REPORT, 23rd October. 1958; Vol. 592, c. 265.]
