§ 30. Mr. Brockwayasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will now report the conclusions of the transport consultative committees on the use of privileged station ranks by licensed taxi-drivers.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI understand that the committees have almost completed their extensive inquiries into this system and hope to be able to present their reports some time in July.
§ Mr. BrockwayMay I ask the right hon. Gentleman to make sure, if he can, that the result of the inquiry is then made known, because this matter has now been discussed for seven years? What is the reason why a simple proposal that station cab ranks should be served by rota from nearby public ranks cannot be put into practice without this long delay?
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe committees have not been discussing it for seven years, but as soon as I get their reports I shall certainly make them known.
