§ 37. Mr. A. Hendersonasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the representations of the Rowley Regis Borough Council, he will now authorise the completion in 1958–59 of the council's scheme for the improvement of City Road, Tividale.
§ Mr. NugentAs we have already informed the right hon. Member, we cannot find room for this scheme in our grant programme for this year.
§ Mr. HendersonIn view of the fact that this road improvement scheme has been under consideration for four years, and that in the meantime the traffic on the road has increased considerably, does not the Minister think it time that some action should be taken? Would he not at least agree to receive a deputation from the council to discuss this proposal?
§ Mr. NugentIf the right hon. and learned Gentleman asks to bring a deputation, of course I shall be very glad to meet it. But I am afraid that at present I cannot give any better prospect of the scheme being carried out.
