asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will publish a White Paper giving a full report of the results of the recent Conference on the Law of the Sea.

Yes, Sir; I am putting in hand the preparation of a White Paper on this Conference.

As so much publicity has been given to the unfavourable results of the Conference, will the White Paper clearly state the successful parts of the Conference so that the public may understand that it has not been a total loss?

I am glad my hon. Friend as asked that question. A great deal of the work of the Conference has been extremely useful. It was really only one aspect which we found not helpful. I will certainly see that my hon. Friend's suggestion is borne in mind in preparing the White Paper.
