34. Mr. Grant-Ferris

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the date on which he hopes to publish the Bowes Committee's Report on the Canals and Inland Waterways.

We hope to receive the Report within the next few weeks. We will then arrange to have it printed and it should be available before the end of July.

Mr. Grant-Ferris

Will my hon. Friend arrange to have the evidence printed separately? It would be rather too voluminous to have with the Report, but I certainly hope that it can be printed.

Mr. Nugent

I will look into the question, but, as my hon. Friend apprehends, it would be very voluminous indeed.

Mr. Strauss

As the Report has, no doubt, been in the hands of the Minister for some little time, will it be possible at the same time as the Report comes before us to publish any idea of the action that the Government propose to take in this matter?

Mr. Nugent

We have not yet received the Report. In the interval before publication, we shall be considering what action should be taken and my right hon. Friend will, of course, make a statement at that time.
