asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what were the average weekly earnings of agricultural workers for the years 1951 and 1957, respectively, and for men, women and young persons, separately.

Mr. Godber

The latest available figures relate to the twelve months ending 30th September, 1957. The estimated average weekly earnings of hired whole-time regular workers in England and Wales in this period are men, £8 19s. 8d., women, £6 5s. 2d., and youths and girls, £5 3s. 10d. The corresponding figures for the twelve months ending 30th September,1951,are,respectively, £5 19s. 4d., £4 6s. and £3 15s. 7d.

Now that the hon. Gentleman has given the actual money received by agricultural workers, men, women and children, will he tell the House how much each agricultural worker earns?
