HC Deb 24 March 1958 vol 585 cc29-30
48. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what extent British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts have ben jammed since Her Majesty's Government entertained proposals for a Summit Conference.

Mr. Ian Harvey

British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts to all Iran Curtain countries, with the exception of Poland, are subject to intense jamming; and there has been no change in this since the start of discussions about a summit meeting.

Mr. Biggs-Davison

Has not the Government represented to the Soviet Government that it might help to improve the atmosphere of negotiations if something were done to put an end to this jamming?

Mr. Harvey

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has already indicated this in his letter of 30th August, 1957, to Mr. Bulganin.
