HC Deb 21 March 1958 vol 584 c1669

Read a Second time.

Bill committed to a Committee of the whole House.—[Mr. M. Clark Hutchison.]

Committee upon Friday, 16th May.

Sir H. Linstead

On a point of order. I am afraid that in the confusion of the moment my objection to the Registered Designs Act, 1949 (Amendment) Bill was not heard by the Chair, but I do personally object to the Second Reading.

Mr. Speaker

I did not hear that. I will have to consider it.

Mr. John Rodgers (Sevenoaks)

On a point of order. May I follow up the point of order raised by my hon. Friend the Member for Putney (Sir H. Linstead)? I also objected to the Registered Designs Act, 1949 (Amendment) Bill, but I do not think my objection was heard.

Mr. Speaker

I did not hear that at all. Hon. Members must remember that they are not the only people talking at the time. There is always a hum of conversation, and to make an objection effective hon. Members must speak up, but I will consider the position that has arisen.
