HC Deb 20 March 1958 vol 584 c1403
10. Mr. Marquand

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what provision is made for the teaching of Arabic in secondary schools or colleges in Kenya.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

All classes in the Arab Secondary School at Mombasa are given instruction in Arabic.

Arabic is not taught as a subject at the Mombasa Institute of Muslim Education, which is a technical training institute, but one period is devoted to Islamic religious teaching each week in addition to daily prayers and Friday worship.
