HC Deb 18 March 1958 vol 584 cc1069-70
12. Mr. Allaun

asked the President of the Board of Trade which non-embargoed items, apart from copper wire and the thirty-five categories of goods on the quantitative control list, are affected by the limitation now applied by his Department to British exports to the Soviet bloc and China.

Sir D. Eccles

None, Sir.

Mr. Allaun

Will the right hon. Gentleman confirm the statement made by the Minister without Portfolio in another place that there is a third list of goods—and this is at a time when there is growing unemployment in this country? The first is a list of embargoed goods, the second a list of goods subject to quantitative restrictions, and the third a list which it is considered impolitic to reveal to the public?

Sir D. Eccles

I do not know to what list the hon. Gentleman is referring. There are certain goods—scrap iron is one—on which there are limitations for all destinations. Maybe my noble Friend was referring to that.
