§ Mr. GodberNo official inquiries have been made into this matter. Butter consumption, although still below the prewar level, has increased substantially since de-rationing, particularly in the last two years.
§ Mr. DarlingDoes the Parliamentary Secretary agree that the best way to help farmers at present is to give them a larger market and somehow to make it possible for the people of this country to eat more meat and dairy produce, and that the best way to do that is to see that they have decent wages and good purchasing power?
§ Mr. GodberThe consumption of both meat and dairy products has risen very rapidly indeed since hon. Members opposite left office.
