HC Deb 10 March 1958 vol 584 c26
44. Mr. Paget

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement with regard to the settlement of claims against the Italian Government arising out of the Fiorentino Estate.

Mr. Ian Harvey

The Italian reply to the latest representations by Her Majesty's Government has been communicated to the solicitors for the claimants, and their comments are awaited.

Mr. Paget

This has been going on a very long time. Can the Minister tell us whether there is any advance on the situation, which was a refusal to pay at anything except the depreciated rate?

Mr. Harvey

That is a slightly different matter. At the moment, I cannot carry the matter further until we have the reply from the solicitors.
