HC Deb 04 March 1958 vol 583 c962
40. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when last he travelled by train to Scotland on official business by the Kings Cross route.

Mr. Maclay

On 6th February.

Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

May I ask my right hon. Friend whether he chanced to be lucky on that occasion or whether, on the contrary, he suffered the vexatious experience, which is common to my constituents and myself, of finding that his train was late? In the event of his train being late on these occasions, may I ask my right hon. Friend not to fail to make a protest, because it is not tolerable that main-line trains going either north or south should be as unpunctual as they are?

Mr. Maclay

From a personal point of view I am prepared to answer that I have been conscious sometimes of a slight irritation at not arriving when I expected to do so. From an official point of view, I must point out that this is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport.
