§ 2. Sir I. Fraserasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much meat and other food has been lost or damaged as a result of the London dock strike.
§ Mr. John HareI have not been informed of any loss or damage to meat. It is not possible to estimate closely the damage to other perishable foodstuffs, but I am informed that some two hundred to three hundred tons of vegetables and fruit may have to be condemned and there will be other losses due to deterioration. Damage has been suffered by butter and cheese lying in barges in the river, but its extent cannot be assessed until it has been unloaded.
§ Sir I. FraserHas it all been cleared now?
§ Mr. HareOur latest reports are that the docks are back at work and that clearances should be fairly soon.
