HC Deb 22 July 1958 vol 592 cc203-4
23. Mr. W. Yates

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs, in view of the fact that the National Playing Fields Association and the Walker Industrial Trust have already promised to contribute part of the funds needed for the reconstruction of the Oakengates Recreation Ground, when he proposes to grant loan sanction to the Oakengates Urban District Council to obtain the balance needed.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (Mr. J. R. Bevins)

My right hon. Friend regrets that he cannot sanction a loan for this purpose at the present time. He will, however, be willing to reconsider the matter at a later date.

Mr. Yates

I thank my hon. Friend for his kind reply. When does he intend to re-examine the position—in three months, or six months?

Mr. Bevins

All these matters which come within the ambit of miscellaneous expenditure are under constant reexamination. Having regard to our financial position, we should be perfectly prepared to look at it again in about six months.
