§ Lords Amendment: In page 39, line 13, leave out "and".
§ Mr. H. BrookeI beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
The following Lords Amendment, in line 14, is linked with this and perhaps we can discuss the two together.
The purpose of the Amendments is to rectify an omission in the Bill. The Bill as it stands makes sure that trustee status is extended to the securities of county councils, county borough councils, county district councils and parish councils in England and Wales and to similar bodies in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but it does not mention the Council of the Isle of Scilly. The Council of the Isles of Scilly is a unique local authority. It would certainly seem quite wrong that that Council should be excluded from a privilege and an opportunity which is granted to other local authorities and parish councils, too. The Amendment extends trustee status to securities of the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
