§ 30. Mr. J. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representations he has received from the West German Government concerning the growing interference by the East German authorities in the legitimate rights of communication and travel between Eastern and Western Germany.
§ Mr. Ian HarveyNo formal representations have been received, but questions relating to communication and travel between the Federal German Republic and Eastern Germany are regularly discussed with the Federal German Authorities.
§ Mr. HyndThe Minister will be aware that the West German Government recently passed a resolution to this effect, and I am surprised that the Government are not apprised of it, but in view of the fact that this involves a question of a United Nations resolution and the Convention of Human Rights, and in view of the fact that Her Majesty's Government have taken upon themselves to be the custodian and defender and interpreter of United Nations resolutions, are they taking no action on this one?
§ Mr. HarveyThe hon. Gentleman has, I think, forestalled his next Question, but the fact is that no formal representation has been made in this matter.
