HC Deb 14 July 1958 vol 591 c820
38. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of he will make a further statement clarifying the general policy of Her Majesty's Government in relation to the present troubles in the Lebanon.

Commander Noble

I have nothing to add to the answer which my right hon. and learned Friend gave on this subject on 2nd July.

Mr. Hughes

Wilt thou slay the Lebanese as thou didst the Egyptians yesterday, or will the Government give an undertaking that they will not again infringe the principles of the United Nations as they did at Suez?

Commander Noble

In spite of that carefully rehearsed impromptu question, I have nothing to add.

Mr. C. Davies

Does not the policy of Her Majesty's Government require immediate reconsideration in view of the events that are happening in Iraq, as well as, possibly, in the Middle East generally?

Commander Noble

I understand that my right hon. and learned Friend will be answering a Question later about Iraq.
