HC Deb 10 July 1958 vol 591 c557
7. Mr. Swingler

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many African trade union members are represented on wage-fixing bodies in each of the territories under the administration of Her Majesty's Government in Africa.

Mr. Profumo

There are approximately 120 workers' representatives who have been nominated to serve on statutory wage-fixing bodies in the territories in Africa for which my right hon. Friend has a responsibility. Not all of these, however, are Africans or trade unionists. When I have complete information I will write to the hon. Member.
