HC Deb 10 July 1958 vol 591 cc562-3
15. Mr. Albu

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has yet received the recommendations of the Governor of Somaliland on the Report of the Commission on Unofficial Representation in the Legislative Council.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No, Sir. This important Report was laid before the Legislative Council in the Somaliland Protectorate on 25th June, and I am still awaiting the views and recommendations of the Governor.

Mr. Albu

Would not the Minister consider it important and urge the Governor to forward the recommendations as soon as possible? In view of the known urgency of this matter, would he consider giving rather wider circulation to what, I think, many people believe to be an excellent Report?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I will put that to the Governor. He is anxious to hurry matters up. I should like to thank the hon. Gentleman for his own very helpful work in that part of the world.
