HC Deb 10 July 1958 vol 591 c566
25. Sir R. Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what arrangements have been made to open discussions between the Governments of the Federation of The West Indies and the United States of America with regard to the United States offer of assistance to the Federation; and whether he proposes to send representatives to attend these discussions.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Last April, Her Majesty's Government conveyed to The West Indies an invitation from the United States Government to send representatives to Washington to discuss assistance; and the Governor-General expressed his Government's gratitude in his Speech from the Throne. Arrangements for the talks are being considered by the Governments concerned, and Her Majesty's Ambassador will be available to give any help that may be needed.

Sir R. Robinson

Will my right hon. Friend make it very clear indeed to the American Government that their offer of assistance to The West Indian Federation is very welcome in this country?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Most certainly.
