HC Deb 08 July 1958 vol 591 c170
3. Mr. Willis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the minimum financial needs of the National Galleries of Scotland are met.

Mr. Maclay

I assume that the hon. Member refers to the financial arrangements for purchasing additional works for the galleries' collections. I am keeping in close touch with my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the question of purchase grants.

Mr. Willis

In view of the relatively very small amount involved—the trustees estimate £15,000—can the right hon. Gentleman ensure that this is met?

Mr. Maclay

I will do my best to see that Scotland's needs are very fully considered whenever this question is discussed.
