§ 32. Mr. George Craddockasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement on the unsatisfactory conditions of 600 prisoners in Her Majesty's Prison, Lokitaung, Kenya.
§ Mr. ProfumoI would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Haltemprice (Mr. Wall) on 11th June. There are not 600 but seven people held in Lokitaung prison.
§ Mr. CraddockIn view of the statement the Minister has just made, which I do not wish to deny, will he be good enough to confirm those figures, because recent information I have from there suggests otherwise?
§ Mr. ProfumoI did very carefully try to verify them, because I did not think that the hon. Gentleman could be so far out in his arithmetic. I think I am right.
