§ 28. Mr. John MacLeodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what grants are being offered to the County Council of Ross and Cromarty; and what work is being carried out under the Congested Districts (Scotland) Act, 1897, for the year 1958–59.
§ Lord John HopeNo new offers of grant have so far been made this year, but schemes already approved for this County are likely to involve payment of some £25,000 grant in the current year.
§ Mr. MacLeodDoes the Joint Under-Secretary appreciate that this is a very unsatisfactory state of affairs, and that I propose to raise the matter on Thursday, 1062 when I hope I shall have a much more satisfactory reply?
§ Lord John HopeI have the engagement noted in my diary.
