§ Mr. Hector HughesI wish to present a Petition by way of protest against the establishment of missile bases in Britain. The Petition has been signed extensively by citizens from every part of Aberdeen.
It sets out in substance that the Petitioners are gravely concerned at the Government's intention to set up missile bases in Britain; that such bases are an incitement to attack by a possible enemy; that the Scandinavian policy in this regard should be adopted; that Britain can lead the world away from war and towards peace; and that immediate steps be taken to these ends. The Petition concludes:
… and your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
