§ 12. Mr. Liptonasked the Minister of Labour how many unemployed are registered at the Brixton Employment Exchange; and what was the figure last year.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe figure was 2,482 at 13th January, 1958, compared with 2,090 at 14th January, 1957.
§ Mr. LiptonIs not this one of the largest pockets of unemployment in the London area? What special measures is the Minister taking to deal with this unfortunate state of affairs?
§ Mr. MacleodI do not think that I can promise special measures for this area. It is true that the position in London is rather uneven, but London is doing a great deal better than most of the areas concerned in the country.
§ Mr. LiptonWhat about Brixton?
