§ 3. Mr. Wallasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs when his Department will complete its study of the East Riding Development Plan, which was submitted to his Department in 1952.
§ Mr. BevinsI am sorry that this is taking so long. My right hon. Friend hopes to let the county council have his views on its plan in the next three months, although the remaining stages after that are bound to take some time. Notwithstanding the absence of an approved development plan, applications for permission to carry out particular developments can be made and decided.
§ Mr. WallWhile thanking my hon. Friend for that assurance, may I ask if he is aware that this delay in approving the plan is causing local authorities serious embarrassment and inhibiting building by local authorities and private enterprise?
§ Mr. BevinsYes, Sir, I am aware of the difficulties, but there were about 400 objections to this plan which have to be considered. We will, however, press on with it with all speed.
