asked the Paymaster-General if he is now in a position to announce the date of the termination of coal rationing.

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave last week to a similar Question put by my hon Friend the Member for Morecambe and Lonsdale (Sir I. Fraser).

I remember the answer which he gave, but will the Minister give a more precise definition of what is "an early date"?

The earliest date by which it can be done without doing greater damage which would counteract the inestimable benefits of getting rid of this rationing.
