HC Deb 17 December 1958 vol 597 c1096
2. Mr. Mellish

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is satisfied that he has a sufficient supply of nuclear warheads for missiles to be used by the Army in the field; and how many of these warheads are of British and how many of United States manufacture.

Mr. Soames

Yes, Sir. There are sufficient stocks, but it would not be in the public interest to give details.

Mr. Mellish

Can we be certain of that? Since we are supposed to be manufacturing the great deterrent, the H-bomb, do we have enough material to enable us to manufacture these warheads as well?

Mr. Soames

The Question is whether we have a sufficient supply of nuclear warheads for missiles to be used by the Army in the field. The answer is, "Yes."
