HC Deb 15 December 1958 vol 597 c762
32. Mr. Swingler

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will publish a White Paper on the various proposals for disengagement in Central Europe which have been received by him from European Governments since Sir Anthony Eden's plan in 1955.

Commander Noble

I think the honourable Member will find that most of these proposals have already been published in White Papers or elsewhere. If he has any difficulty in finding the texts of any of the proposals which he has in mind, I should be glad to advise him where they may be found.

Mr. Swingler

As this is now a very important matter for study and about the most hopeful prospect for international agreement, would not it be convenient for hon. Members to have a White Paper to study the series of plans which have appeared since the plan put forward by Sir Anthony Eden for a zone of disengagement in 1955? if we had such a White Paper, might it not be possible to find out the attitude of Her Majesty's Government at the moment to the prospect of disengagement? May I have an answer?

Commander Noble

I have nothing to add to my first answer.
